Two themes are the focus of this issue, “Irregular Living” and “Heritage and Reuse”. The first looks at new approaches to mid-size, multi-unit residential housing projects which are situated on an atypical or unusual site. Among the five examples are Gardenhouse in Los Angeles by MAD Architects and Pedra Líquida’s São Bento Residences in Porto. The second theme addresses the adaptive reuse of industrial heritage, such as Studio Gang’s reinvention of the Beloit Powerhouse in Chicago, Silo Erlenmatt Renovation in Basel by Harry Gugger Studio, and the redevelopment of aeronautical buildings in Toulouse into La Cité Innovation Hub by Taillandier Architectes Associés.
