Description
The architecture of Hitoshi Abe fuses distinctions between architecture and landscape, image and material, architect and user, and in turn forges new collaborative relationships from which his practice continually evolves. Here, recent work by the architect in Japan is surveyed with projects selected in order to explore Abe’s innovative approach to material, construction and practice, and include: the Reihoku Community Hall; Aoba-tei restaurant, the K-Museum, temporary installations, and a recent exhibit in Tokyo. Illustrated throughout with photographs, plans, elevations and models, the publication also includes essays by Gretchen Wilkins, Ken Tadashi Oshima and George Wagner.
