Description
The rapid evolution of social dynamics over the last century has resulted in a complex society in which individuals have access to more free time. Both competitive and recreational sporting activities now pervade the urban scope and have engendered the development of numerous modern architectural typologies. This issue explores some recent examples of new and repurposed buildings, such as Streetdome in Haderslev, LeFrak Center at Lakeside in New York, and Allez-Up Climbing Center in Montreal. In addition, a feature on the proxemics of territoriality versus privacy in architecture’s cultural codes investigates how this can be uniquely expressed in residential architectures.
