Description
“Memory” is one of three themes in this edition, introduced in an essay by Paula Melâneo and featuring projects concerned with retrieving part of a local atmosphere, history or identity, such as the Garden Tree House by Hironaka Ogawa & Associates and the Hut in Fichtelberg by AFF Architekten. The second theme, “New Reality from Old Industrial Site”, takes up the related practice of transforming and revitalising disused and ruined urban areas. Among the highlighted works are the Danish National Maritime Museum by BIG and Casa Mediterraneo Headquarters by Manuel Ocaña. Finally, “Liberal and Functional” examines the university building typology in four new projects.
