Description

Since setting up in Los Angeles in 1998, the office of Johnston Marklee has come to be known for works that are subtle yet deliberate contributions to their immediate surroundings as well as the larger cultural realm. Frequently veiled behind playfulness and simplicity is an intense investigative nature. Founding partners Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee have continuously sought dialogue with modern and contemporary art, not only through clientele and project programs but also in design approach. In the past decade their works have expanded greatly in scale and diversified in building type. Here, 26 key projects are presented alongside several thematic collages and essays.
