Description
Architect Heinz Bienefeld is the focus of this issue, which is guest edited by Wilfried Wang. As director of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Wang curated an exhibition dedicated to the German architect in 1999. Bienefeld’s work is mostly limited to small houses and churches, and his practice to the suburbs of Cologne. This issue presents five buildings – two churches and three houses – selected from amongst his 180 projects, and also includes 164 drawings, together with extensive descriptions by Wang that assist in the understanding of Bienefeld’s working method. With essays by Norbert Heinze and Hansjörg Göritz, plus a chronological list of projects by Bienefeld.
