Description
The cityscape of Vienna is the focus of this instalment, its layered urban structure and celebrated history having been interpreted time and again by architects, forming new layers in the process. How do architects today read this condition and design? In essays by Christian Kühn and Reinhard Seiss, the transformation of architectural expression through building facades and recent developments for urban expansion from a historic viewpoint are discussed. Also, nine teams of architects comment on Vienna’s fundamental and transforming elements. The city’s continuing theory is explored through approximately 60 works – from pre-modern to modern and the present.
