Novel structural design tools that extend traditional graphical methods to three dimensions allow designers to discover a vast range of possible forms in compression. The book presents the theoretical and methodical foundations of the award-winning Beyond Bending exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2016, giving in-depth analyses, interviews and numerous illustrations and drawings for insight into the making of the exhibition’s centerpiece, the Armadillo Vault.
