Description

Case Study of Remodeling: residential space, cultural and artistic space, commercial space, working space, educational space, religious space, public space.
In Europe today, most projects in architecture are limited to renovation and refurbishment works except of the immense variety of architect-houses and some prestigious projects. Our education and training but above all our interest was early designed to older buildings; building “new and therefore different” buildings for us was always less interesting than to “think buildings” ahead and to “continue a building”. Working with existing buildings means to reconider values and to continue tradition.
Reconstruction and extension are certainly efforts to enchance the spatial value of existing buildings. Therefore it is important to discover the characteristics of the original building and show them to advantage. I consider that the action of this discovery is very creative. buildings are living organisms that evolve over time. Buildings tell stories.
