This field guide to surviving the future of architecture takes the position that the apocalypse is not an imminent event – we are experiencing it right now. The aim is to deconstruct and reshape the notion of “apocalypse”, neutralising it and reconsidering what it means to live in these challenging times. Massive change is required, and architects must take on new responsibilities. In the featured projects, two common threads emerge: a rise in activism and political engagement finding expression through architectural endeavour, and bolder efforts to actively decouple citizens from outmoded political mechanisms and economic structures that no longer reflect the reality of the situation.
