Archives 2: Bearth & Deplazes

This publication focuses on the topic of the contextual problem through an examination of works by Swiss architects Bearth & Deplazes. The built works selected by editors Carlos Quintáns and Juan Rodríguez are all found in the Maienfeld region of Switzerland, thereby offering an opportunity to examine the architects’ particular engagement with materials and techniques, which often forms the basis of their projects. Their deep appreciation of history and territory is reflected in a collection of photographs of the region’s vernacular buildings. The featured works span a range of years, from 1989 to 2016, and include various houses and mountain huts, a clinic, and two wineries.
